TULSA, OK. (Jan. 3, 2024) – GRAND Mental Health has been named as a Certified Community
Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), supporting Tulsa County. CCBHCs are a new provider type in
Medicaid being offered across Oklahoma, under the leadership and vision of the Oklahoma
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
“We are excited to partner with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance
Abuse Services in this initiative to serve Tulsans.” says Larry Smith, CEO of GRAND Mental Health.
“Being awarded this new CCBHC contract in Tulsa County allows us to expand our services to truly
provide unbridled access to care to those in need in our community.” GRAND joins existing
providers in Tulsa County, including Family & Children’s Services, CREOKS and Counseling &
Recovery Services of Oklahoma.
GRAND also serves as a CCBHC in twelve other counties across northeast and north central
Oklahoma. The CCBHC model represents an opportunity for Oklahoma to improve the behavioral
health of vulnerable citizens by providing community-based mental and substance use disorder
services; advancing integration of behavioral health with physical health care; assimilating and
utilizing evidence-based practices on a more consistent basis; and promoting improved access to
high-quality care. Care coordination is the linchpin holding these aspects of CCBHC care together
and ensuring high-quality care and improved outcomes.
“GRAND Mental Health has proven to be a valuable partner and provider,” offers Heath Holt
Hayes, Deputy Commissioner for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance
Abuse Services. “There is a great need for expanded mental health care services in Tulsa and GRAND’s
innovative, outcomes-focused approach led to us selecting them to fill the gap there. We look forward
to continuing our important work with them in Tulsa County.”
CCBHCs are required to meet standards for the range of services they provide, such as providing care to
people quickly. An important feature of the CCBHC model is that it requires crisis services that are
available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
GRAND Mental Health provides services for adults, children, adolescents, and families struggling with behavioral health issues, substance use issues, and integrated/medical needs in northeastern and north central Oklahoma. In business since 1979, GRAND Mental Health is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) providing evidence- based mental health and substance use services integrated with primary health care. Becoming a CCBHC has allowed GRAND Mental Health to hire wellness coaches, dieticians, occupational therapists, behavioral health coaches and peer recovery support specialists to provide a larger spectrum of services to clients. GRAND Mental Health operates 27 clinics and centers in 13 Oklahoma counties, employing more than 1,700 people. GRAND Mental Health strives to provide personalized care, anytime, anywhere. GRAND Mental Health works closely with and is partially funded by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
